Our March

A busy March. The flu, cold and cough bug got us one by one, so we took turns having a leaky nose and thank goodness it stopped at that. No more doctors!

Raphael is 6 months 3 weeks old and he always surprises us at the 3rd week mark. At 1 month 3 weeks old, he pushed himself up while on his tummy. The next one, he flipped over, then rolled over, by the 5th month he is doing his combat crawl. And right now he is into sitting up like a tripod with hand support. I'm looking forward to more surprises. Go Raphael!

What about the little cheeky girl? That's what she calls herself these days. We are doing a little bit of potty training now and then, we are not forcing it. We believed she will do it when the time is right. Well, she goes through the whole procedure, pants off, sit on the potty, papers ready and then we wait.....a minute....2....nothing. Okay, washed hands, pants up again. I'm waiting to see something in the potty.

She now chooses her own clothes and I so wished for those days when I can pull whatever from the drawer and put it on for her without a word of protest. It's now, 'I like the pink shirt.', 'NOO... mummy, I want the white romper like baby Raphael!'. Regressing.

The kiddos playing together, Chloe showing Raphael how the car works.

Just up from her nap, the first thing she looks for is - food! Yes, this girl is a foodie. She loves her food, carbs, veggie, meat and fruits, of course her ice-cream too.

All dressed up, for fun. Miss Bossy also chooses what her brother wears for the day too.

Burp! My very contented baby after his meal of carrot and rice puree.

Dora the Explorer at the Zoo

What was supposed to be a relax trip to the zoo to meet Dora the Explorer ended up with us doing so much more than 2 trips combined, one thing leads to another. What a day... we had a BLAST!

After waiting for 20 minutes in front of the stage with a crowd of very excited kids, Dora finally appeared with Boots. Chaos! Parents started pulling their kids to the steps to get onto the stage, for a moment, I lost her in the crowd. Thank goodness, we managed to have her in the Q and up there in one piece. I was so relieved that Chloe did not freaked out by the commotion and jostling crowd. There she is, waiting patiently for her turn to shake hands with Dora.

Finally, she got to say hi to Dora and Boot! Thrilled.....

What is she up to? Going behind Dora to check out her backpack, making sure she had it on. She came down very happy and contented telling me, 'Dora has her backpack.'. Yes, that girl is geared up for the show.

She is going to be so happy when I print this out for her. Dora, Boots and Chloe!

Recharging with junk food before my little explorer starts her journey.

Okay, the goats will not bite her hands off since they only eat shoots and leave, yah? I'm more worried for the goats than the other way round cos she wants to put her whole hand in to 'sayang' this fellow and her TLC might just be a little too much for this guy.

I have to drag her out of the falabella's stable and stopped her from climbing into the rabbit's corner. Yes, she's just so happy to see them up close and wants to cuddle all of them.

On the caurosel, this thing makes my head spinned.

At the Australian Outback exhibit. Wallabies and emus. We were waiting for the wallabies to hop out of the enclosure and it did! Run, Chloe! Yes, she chased after it.

Gotcha! Giving it a good pat. It did not stay long in one stop and she was going after this guy, too bad we missed the feeding time, probably with food it might just stay long enough for them to have a nice chat over greens and milk.

The Himadraya baboons.

The infamous white tiger.
My relax outing is getting very fruitful by now, more to come....

Our boat ride on Seletar Resevoir, which brings us back again to the Kidz Rainforest World.

And we ended our trip with a horse carriage ride.

Nope.... wait. I ended the trip carrying a sleeping Chloe running out from the zoo. The rain is coming and it did pour buckets as we drove off.

Daily Kiddos

This is Raphael after his bath, milk and cereal, still smelling sweet like a baby. Full and satisfied ready to take on the world. At the end of the day, he smells a little saltish (sweat), a little sourish (milk), boyish (combination of his drool and Chloe's saliva from all her kisses)... ... but I like it, his unique baby smell.

The 3 best friends. The 2 kiddos trying to get a piece of daddy's attention.

Never a dull moment when Chloe is around. She can make you laugh one minute and drive you up the wall the next, beware.

A quiet moment....

YOOO Ga! That's how she says it, 2 separate words. And this is her modified version of kurmasana (tortise pose).

I'm an evergreen tree!

Doing a sun salute, she loves doing sun salutes as we always add in some silly rhyme and different modified versions. 'Again!' This is she being very co-operative today, agreeing to hold for 5 counts for me to take a shot.

School Holidays!

Just how much I missed school holidays? Extreme! I think I looked forward to it more than anyone else. It means no alarm clocks, no 5 more minutes snooze and some extra hours of sleep after my never ending night feeds.

Hmm.... heaven. Wrong, Chloe woke up at 7.45 am, 15 minutes later than my usual alarm and announced, 'EK UP! Ek (Wake) up, mummy. I want to eat mum mum, go to school.' My bubble burst. Not too bad, I can let her play in the room while I take another 30 mins of power snooze. 'Eh...h.'. 'Good morning, Raphael! Mummy, Raphael! He ek up.' Pop! My second bubble burst. Time to rise and play.

Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming... in the ball pool. She was doing some serious back stroke, front crawl and whatever gets her to moving. So fun! Why can't they build an adult size or even better an adult playground, with super long slides, trampolines, tunnels and bouncy castle.

Whee...eeeee...! You hear them before you see them.

Dinner for the very hungry people. And this is the kiss of the century known as the 'Pumpkin Kiss'. For the perfect pumpkin kiss, you got to slurp a mouthful of pumpkin soup from the bowl, make sure you spot pumpkin soup moustache, then you 'SMUACK!' loud and forceful onto your beloved daddy's face. On days with no pumpkin soup, you subsitute with drool, result equally good, if not better according to Chloe.

Her first encounter with candy floss. Let's get it right, the 'kid' who was eyeing the candy floss machine throughout dinner was Simon, not Chloe since she didn't know what that pot standing there can produce. Her eyes glowed when Simon brought one over, bigger than her head. Father and daughter were fighting over it and stuffing their face with it. The sugar rush....

Small one for Chloe, big one for daddy. I'm urging Simon to finish it up, EAT! 99.9 % for daddy and 1% for Chloe. Relax, mummy.... I know it's just sugar.

We love ice cream! Who don't?

Our little outing to East Coast Park to pick up my new pair of skates ended with a visit to Gelare, my favorite ice cream parlor for their super fluffy waffles. New skates and ice cream waffle, what more can a girl ask for? Yes! :)

Waiting for impatiently for the ice cream waffle. Patience, good stuff takes time.... I can smell the waffle.

Dig in! I was 'cheated' to pay another $0.20 for 'fresh' fruit topping and all I got were 2 pieces of thinly sliced sad and dried up canned peach. The least I thought was some diced up mixed fruit.

Burp! Happy people after stuffing our face with 3 scoops of ice cream and a large waffle. Dessert before dinner.

Miss Drama and her little dramas

The little funny incidents, conversations that makes me laugh, try very hard not to laugh and burst out laughing, can't take it anymore. Her expression, that gleam in her eyes, her little gestures and that big laughter, they never fail to crack me up.

#1
Trying very hard to fix her toy oven's door back onto the hinge, grumbling and cursing under my breath.

Me: Chloe, see what you did, this is so difficult to fix.

Not the least bothered, she carries on dancing and spinning. Few minutes later...

Chloe: Mummy, you ok? Me: Nooo... See, it's still here.

Chloe: Use your imaginaaaaa.....tion, use your imaginaaa....tion, your imagination!

#2
After cleaning her up, she ran off without her shorts, half naked, laughing and jumped onto the couch. I was washing my hands and my instinct told me she's up to no good ....

Punching both her fists in the air, looking every bit the champion.

Chloe: Mummy! I DID IT! Hahaha.... Me: What did you do? (Dashing out from the bathroom)

Chloe: I made shee shee on the sofa! I DID IT!!

I was really angry for maybe 3 minutes, try very hard not to laugh after I cooled off. I knew she did something really naughty and I was really angry and scolded her but all for that 5 minutes because of that big 'I'm a winner' grin on her face.

#3
Me: Wow! You're so pretty!

Chloe: NO! I'm handsome!

Me: No, handsome is for boys, for Raphael.

Chloe: Me! For me! I'm handsome, Raphael is cute.

#4
Standing on the balcony, she was trying very hard to lure the humming bird back with her piece of bread with Nutella spread.

Chloe: Mummy, I feed the birds. They coming back?

Me: You can try, let's wait for them.

Arms wide open, waving, swinging like a conductor commanding the birds to come back.

Chloe: BIRDS! WHERE ARE YOUUUUU? COME BACK HERE! EAT BREAD.

#5
For unknown reasons, Chloe hates to be wiped before and after meals and will insist on staying dirty.

Me: Chloe, I need to clean your nose. See, mucus. Yikesss.

Chloe: Noooo....! (Protesting) Put back! Put back my pee sia! I want my pee sia! Put back! (Starts smearing more gooey mucus over her face frantically.)

#6
Eileen: Who is cute?

Chloe: Raphael.

Eileen: What about you?

Chloe: I'm dirty girl.

Rock stars

Can we classify Sera and Chloe's friendship as long-distance? Heh, I guess so. They meet each other once or twice in a year and 'see' each other on their own blogs. Chloe would point at Sera on the screen and exclaimed, 'That's my friend, Sera! SERA!'. It's very heartwarming to see how they connect when they meet, Sera going 'Chl...oeee!' and Chloe going 'Sera, Sera, Sera...' and they just clicked and played like they meet each other every other day. Today, they had a fabulous time again at our place.

Presenting the 'Little Divas Rock and Roll'.

Rocker chicks from Que Sera Sera on Vimeo.

This is a video taken by Desiree. I've yet to upload my video. :) Thank you!

Sera in her black dress looking very much the little rockstar and if you can't figure out what Chloe is wearing, well it's Raphael's 'Very Chinese' romper for CNY. The girls swaying to the music and the 2 mummies being entertained, we were trying so hard not to laugh while Desiree is shooting the video.

'Mummy looks different today...hmm... Ahh! The sunnies are so small.'

All in action. Dancing, crawling, having fun.

I'm so done. I need food and water. Time for a snack.

The girls enjoying the lovely cake Des bought while Yasmin looked on.

Buddies back home!

Our 3 favorite girls and a man are back in town for a short holiday! Lunch at a Japanese restaurant, the same one again, our ritual?

'Sera...Sera...' She was singing 'Sera' when I told her we are out for lunch with her friend. And in such a good mood, she posed for me.

Sera having fun with Yasmin while waiting for our lunch. More kisses, more hugs....

Chloe very busy tucking into her sushi and udon oblivious to everything.

Hmm... Green tea parfait. Girls, we should do this often.

After 3 months...

Chloe has been going to school for 3 months and I would say she is loving every moment of it now, though there was the 'delayed first day jitters' which sets in only in the second week of school. Tantrums, crying fits of 'I DON'T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL!!' From waking her up, to changing her into her school uniform, getting her into the car and into the school... gosh an arduous uphill task.

Then suddenly, everything is back to the norm. She just looks forward to school, she comes home everyday belting out songs after songs, her non-stop chatting, dancing. There was a time when I worried about her speech development, when are you going to call me 'Mummy.'? I have 'Mummy!Look!' every 30 seconds now. Someone tell that girl to give me a break. :)

Simon was called aside by her teacher when he picked her up from school one afternoon, he was thrilled to bites, thinking his little girl must have done something exceptionally 'wow'. Well, just the opposite, she bit her classmate. Her friend held onto her hand refusing to let her out of the room and she bit him when she can't shake his hand off. Talk about self-defense.

On our first Parent Teacher Meeting, the biggest compliment was that she loves food, second and third helpings. Hmm... the teachers must be thinking we are starving her at home. Truth is she is a live to eat person, udon, rice and pasta and desserts tops her list.

And the downside of sending her to school, she brings home the cough and cold bugs, she's either coughing or with a drippy nose.

Her first time attending the school assembly, her class is due for a little performance and parents are invited. Her teacher clipped her hair and I'm surprised the clip survived and she allows her teacher to clip her hair.

Looking bored and feeling very bored already, feet in the air, fingers in her mouth feeling very at home.

Are we anywhere near starting?

Her classmates and the rest of the school

A peek into her classroom. Letter of the week 'R'.

Theme of the term is 'Me and my family'. Can you spot us?
