Chloe's First Musical

Dora's Pirate Adventure! We are not a fan of Dora at all (ahem, ;p), but Sera is. To introduce our Mickey Mouse fanatic to Dora, we bought the DVD to show her who Dora is. Sigh, she walked off 5 minutes after the I played the DVD and I ended up watching it. How? She doesn't like Dora, what happened if she walked off during the show?

Okay, I was so excited and a little worried. Well, I watched my first musical in my 20's and this little girl is just 19 months old. Gulp! What happened if she started bawling because of the loudness (we are 4 rows from the stage)? Will she be frightened when they off the lights? Freaked out by the overwhelming crowd....the list goes on, so many unnecessary worries. She proved me all wrong, my little girl was so at home, so engrossed with the show even though she may not know who Dora is or what the story is about.

2 very happy girls with little paper flag. Sera definitely can't wait for the show to start, she is the biggest fan of Dora.

The stage. Yes, we are so near and I was hopping the characters might jumped off the stage to mingle with the audience. No such luck. :( I want a picture with Dora, Swiper and the fat monkey (eh, what's his name?)

Not sure who is more excited, Chloe or me.

Pirate Piggies in action

See, she loves the musical.

The big ship sails on the ali-ali-o...

Chloe was so attentive and into the whole show, her eyes are glued to the stage, enjoying every single scene. I must say I'm really impressed with her. :) I can't imagine what will happened if it's Mickey Mouse and gang on stage instead. She might just climbed onto the stage during intermission. Haha...

At the end of the show, they fired confetti and streamer which made all the children ran to the front of the stage. Chloe joined in and had her share of fun picking and pulling the streamer from the other children.

What an experience... another one one the way, Barney.

Leaving the nest

School holidays are here! Term 2 ended today and we had a party in school. The kids does not really understand what it really was except that snack time was longer than usual and there was so much food, so much 'forbidden food' too and a goodie bag to bring home.

Mommies and daddies were armed with cameras and camcorders to capture the precious moments. It feels a little different this time as Chloe is leaving the class to join the next grade when school starts. I think she will miss her teachers, friends and the classroom which she is so familiar with. Thank you Lin, Zac, Nikita, Cuiting and Shan for all the wonderful, fantastic and unforgettable times she spent in Playnest.

Miss Wriggly trying to wriggle away from Lin's tickle. Lin, the teacher she so adore. We're going to miss you!

Tumbling with all her friends on last time on the mat.

Watching a puppet show.

This is her favorite corner in class. She tumbles, rolls, scrambles up, slides and bounces on it for a good 6 months before class starts and sometimes during class too. :)

One with grandma on my favorite spot

With Zac, the guitarist.
'He lets me play with his guitar and hits it like a drum too... so cool.'

'Yippeeee....! I have a jelly, no one is going to take it from me.'

To prove that this is her spot, she claimed the area as hers right throughout the whole snack time the moment she is done with her food.

Receiving her art and craft portfolio from Lin.

Posing with Nikita. Thank you! :)

'I see something... hmm... hopping away.'

Before & After

I took this on the way to school while the lights are red. Chloe looked so bubbly and fresh, so eager and all ready to go school. The green frog is one of her favorite travelling toy.

3 hours later. Fast asleep... notice the frog is also sleeping? On his back.

Playmates

Play! No, the mommies don't play, we lay on the couch and make ourselves comfy, sipped tea, watched them and wonder where the boundless energy came from. They played, ate, snacked, watched movie, played some more, swam, had dinner and played again - endless, for almost 8 hours! Desiree and I tried to make them take a short nap but were met with protest of flying blankies and soft toys. I was ready to crush anytime. But, we had a super great time, no complaints. :) It's really fun to watch them play together.

Movie time! 10 minutes intermission for snack and drink, a very much needed recharge.

Yogurt time. So engrossed with the cartoon, only for as long as the tiny tub of yogurt lasted. And they are off again... whee!!

'Looks fun. I shall try this too.'

'Peek a boo!'

Splashing good times with Sera.

'Why are we taking pictures in the pool? We are going swimming now! No posing! No pictures!'
A pair of very impatient water babies.

'This is too shallow for us, let's go to the other pool.'
The water level in the playground is very shallow and Sera is bored because she can't swim with her floaties. She moved on to the baby pool which in her opinion was still not good enough for her to 'water dance', eventually she jumped into the olympic-size pool and swam to her heart's content. Chloe follow suit and started jumping into the pool making it a game, with me catching her in the water.

Staying put, refusing to get out.

Our Weekend

To beat the horrible heat, we did what most Singaporean do, shop! Cool malls! We were walking towards this very colorful children's boutique and Chloe blast into the shop, straight to a rack of clothes touching and feeling the material, exclaiming 'Wow! Ooo...!' I'm serious, she was so into her shopping, asking me to take down a jumper, held it against herself and parade around the shop looking for a mirror. I'm not so sure the sales people are as enthusiastic as she is as she goes from one rack to another.

She ditched the jumper when she spotted the cool sunglasses by the mirror.

Just the right thing for a hot and sunny day

'This one matches my red dress.'

'Knock, knock. Anybody there?'

Sundays are bum days. We stayed home after a very hectic week for a good rest and to catch some sleep. I need the Zzzz's badly before Miss Eyebags comes looking for me. While I lazed on the couch, Miss Sunshine was busy with her Lego blocks, when a sudden crashing sound jolted me awake from my daydreams.

She found that the Lego bucket has another use. She put the bucket over her head and started strutting around the hall. And after she got tired of that, she overturned the bucket and tried to ride it like her rocking horse. A child's imagination... endless.

'Look, I can dance with this thing over my head.'

'Even spin with it.'

'And I can ride and hop over it.'

Pool Time

We had a play date with Desiree and Sera at their new place, actually a swim date. It was so much fun. Thank you for the fantastic time and thanks Sera for showing Chloe that swimming and dancing in the water is so so fun!

Sera and Chloe watching an episode of Dora. Sera is all ready to jump into the pool.

Chloe getting ready too.

Chloe getting very excited over the wheel and we were there just turning and singing 'The wheels on the bus'. To be honest, I was surprise she went into the water and was splashing about in less than 10 minutes, I have to say she has a very good role model dancing in the water enticing her. The last time (10 months old) she was bawling and crawling to get out of the pool. Anyway, I had a hard time coaxing her out later on.

'If only there's a honk too.'
Still at the wheel, refusing to let go...

No idea who's happier to be in the water

The 3 water babes, ahem 4.

All clean and dry, ready for dinner.

2 hungry girls waiting for their dinner.

Desiree and Sera

Our yummy assam curry fish head at the Shore Restaurant. On the sand, next to the sea with airplanes over our head and a nice and cool evening breeze.

Girls Day Out

The girls are back in town! Yes! Desiree and Sera are back here. First thing we did, eat, shop, play and shop some more. We girls love to shop, especially Sera and Chloe.

Our lunch at Oomphatico's.

Sera wearing her Dora armbands checking out shoes for mommy. She has good taste!

Sera and Chloe in their mini 'Ferrari'. Cool, 2 steering wheels.

Now, for some serious business. The girls doing their shoe shopping. They both went around the shop picking up different sandals, look and put it back. 'Nay, not what I'm looking for.' I gave Chloe a sandal and she pass it to the sales lady, stretched out her leg and asked her to put it on for her. The score 1-1. We have to leave before they buy the entire collection.

'Do you have my size?'

'Ready, go! Let's see who gets to the slide first.'

I swear these 2 runs on solar power, always on the move.

'Sera, where are you? I'm almost there...'

'Wheeee....!'
